HCDBM is committed to equipping the next generation and preparing them to become the person God designed them to be.

At-risk students in K-12 grades are matched with Christian mentors who provide support and guidance while modeling God's love. SBM mentors are supported by intentional case management to help children meet healthy spiritual, emotional, and academic milestones. SBM mentors also participate in year-round enrichment programs, summer leadership programs, field trips, and summer camp, which build their faith and develop life skills as they learn who they are in Christ.

Currently, there are children on the waiting list in need of mentors. Will you help make a difference in a child’s life?

Children in persistent poverty have an increased risk for social and cognitive development leading to academic decline and behavioral issues. Statistics have shown that children raised in persistent poverty have lower academic outcomes and risky behavior. Many of these children come from fatherless households, which, together with low graduation rates, leads to a high percentage of children repeating the cycle of poverty. The national average for graduation from high school for persistently poor children is only 67%. This highly effective program has a 5-year graduation rate of 100% and a 16-year average of 97%. SBM matches an average of 48 months, well above the national average of 14 months.

A community united and equipped... to train up each child God brings to us in the way he should go.

  • SLA is a leadership program for SBM students K-12th grade designed to raise the expected outcomes for our mentees by creating opportunities for them to become leaders in the community. Students meet four days a week for seven weeks and focus on bible literacy, critical thinking, leadership, and service. In addition, students are exposed to motivational speakers, small group discussions, field trips, businesses, college campuses, and other places to help them learn and visualize a life beyond their circumstances. Due to its success, SBM SLA has been endorsed by the Boerne Independent School District (BISD).

  • HCDBM collaborates with our area's Christian camps to provide a weeklong outdoor Christian camp experience. So often, children in need are required to take on responsibilities of the home during summer months, rarely getting the chance to act their age, have fun and learn about the unconditional love of Christ.
